Coming Full Circle: Chance Wilson Returns to Westdale Middle School

WGI Founder Chance Wilson poses with students and staff at Westdale Middle School

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, just a month before the tenth anniversary of the Wilson Global Initiative (WGI), our founder Chance Wilson made an emotional return to Westdale Middle School—the very place where his extraordinary journey began.

Chance, accompanied by school district leadership, revisited his old stomping grounds with a clear purpose: to inspire the next generation of leaders and dreamers. As he walked through the familiar halls, nostalgia filled the air, but it was in his old social studies classroom where the memories truly came flooding back.

Sitting in the same seat where he once dreamed of making a difference, Chance had the opportunity to speak directly to a room full of eager students. His message was one of hope, ambition, and service. He encouraged the students to follow their dreams, just as he had, reminding them that age is no barrier to making a significant impact in the world.

But beyond the call to chase their dreams, Chance stressed the urgency of public service. He spoke passionately about the importance of giving back to the community and helping those in need. "Your education is not just for you," he told the students, "It's a tool to change the world."

Chance's closing message was both powerful and personal. He urged the students to grow up, pay it forward, and one day return to Westdale as he had.

As we approach our tenth anniversary, this visit to Westdale Middle School serves as a poignant reminder of WGI's roots and the incredible journey we've taken. It's also a testament to the enduring impact that one person—one student—can have on the world.

Chance Wilson’s return to Westdale wasn’t just a visit; it was a full-circle moment that underscores the mission of WGI: to empower individuals to learn, grow, and make a difference.
